So far all the Phil Spector murder trial has really taught us is that Phil Spector likes to wave guns in people’s faces, Phil Spector’s lawyer has been a bit ill and Phil Spector is the finest connoisseur of practical lesbian-styled wigs in the land.But one question had been left unanswered – what was Phil Spector like on the night that B-movie actress Lana Clarkson died from a gunshot to the mouth? That question was neatly answered in part yesterday by Rommie Davis, a friend of Phil Spector who was out with the music producer on the evening that Lana Clarkson died. According to Rommie Davis, Phil Spector was combing alcohol and medication that night or, as she termed it, “a lethal combination.” Reports that the utterance of word “lethal” was accompanied in court by a lightning strike and a burst of sinister-sounding organ music are still unconfirmed.

AMD announces four-core Phenom chips

Advanced Micro Devices Inc. has announced it will launch a new line of chips that integrate four computing centres on a single piece of silicon later this year.

The upcoming Phenom line of processors will be able maximize performance by managing energy use more efficiently and minimizing the distance information has to travel to be used, the Sunnyvale, Calif. chipmaker said on Monday.

German man found after 7 years: Dead in bed

BERLIN (Reuters) – The decomposed corpse of a German man was found alone in his bed after nearly seven years, police in the western city of Essen said Thursday.

The police said in a statement the man was 59 and unemployed at the time of his death. He most likely died of natural causes on November 30, 2000, the date he received a letter from the Welfare Office found in the apartment, police said.

Next to the dead man’s bed police found cigarettes, an open television guide and Deutschemark coins, which came out of circulation after the euro was introduced in 2002.

The man’s apartment was in a building with offices and apartments, many of which are now empty.

“No one missed him. No missing person report was ever filed,” the police said.

Wisconsin Festival Sells Deep Fried Testicles

ELDERON, Wis. - Around here, it may be tough to pass up anything deep-fried. Wisconsinites have deep-fried cheese curds, candy bars and Twinkies. They now have deep-fried livestock testicles, too.

More than 300 people paid $5 for all-you-can-eat goat, lamb and bull testicles Saturday at the ninth annual Testicle Festival at Mama’s Place Bar and Grill in Elderon in central Wisconsin.

“Once you get over the mental (aspect) of what you’re eating, it’s just like eating any other food, and it tastes good,” Buster Hoffman said.

14 Years After The West Memphis Three

WEST MEMPHIS, AR–This week marks the 14th anniversary of the West Memphis Three. It’s a case that captured the attention of millions when three young boys from West Memphis were found brutally murdered.

Three men now sit behind bars, one on death row for the crimes. Meanwhile the victims’ families are still looking for closure.

Stevie Branch was an honor roll student who won awards in math and science. He had an active imagination and loved to sing.

“He was a very intelligent little boy. I could have had the next president, had he not been murdered,” said Pamela Hobbs the mother of Stevie Branch.

Stevie would have turned 23 this year and his mother often thinks of what could have been.

Microsoft demands royalties for open-source software

(Computerworld) — Microsoft Corp. on Sunday confirmed reports that it reportedly believes open-source software users owe the company royalties on 235 alleged patent violations.

In an interview with Fortune magazine, Brad Smith, Microsoft’s general counsel, and Horacio Gutierrez, the company’s vice president of intellectual property and licensing, said open-souce software, including Linux, violates 235 Microsoft patents. And Microsoft wants distributors and users of open-souce software to start paying royalties for these alleged violations.

‘Sopranos’ Shocker as Series Winds Down

Spoiler alert: Stop reading now if you’ve saved “The Sopranos” for later viewing.

Sunday night, Tony Soprano killed his nephew, surrogate son and loyal aide, Christopher Moltisanti. The murder, which came after the pair survived a car crash, was as shocking as anything that “The Sopranos” creator David Chase has ever come up with.

To top it off, the crash was timed during the same Pink Floyd song Tony, played by James Gandolfini, was singing aloud last week: “Comfortably Numb.” The last line heard before the pair’s SUV hits an oncoming car is “the child is grown, the dream is gone.”

Opie and Anthony Joke About Raping Condoleezza Rice

XM Satellite Radio shock jocks Opie and Anthony apologized Friday for airing a homeless man’s crude comments that he’d like to have sex with Condoleezza Rice, Laura Bush and Queen Elizabeth.

The remarks were made on their show Wednesday by a guest the duo call Homeless Charlie. As the name of each woman came up, the guest said he would like to have sex with her — using language not fit for print.

Opie and Anthony laughed as they imagined Rice’s “horror” while describing a violent sexual encounter in which Rice is punched in the face.

Study Finds Marijuana Does NOT Cause Cancer

The largest study of its kind has unexpectedly concluded that smoking marijuana, even regularly and heavily, does not lead to lung cancer.

The new findings “were against our expectations,” said Donald Tashkin of the University of California at Los Angeles, a pulmonologist who has studied marijuana for 30 years.

“We hypothesized that there would be a positive association between marijuana use and lung cancer, and that the association would be more positive with heavier use,” he said. “What we found instead was no association at all, and even a suggestion of some protective effect.”

Federal health and drug enforcement officials have widely used Tashkin’s previous work on marijuana to make the case that the drug is dangerous. Tashkin said that while he still believes marijuana is potentially harmful, its cancer-causing effects appear to be of less concern than previously thought.

Earlier work established that marijuana does contain cancer-causing chemicals as potentially harmful as those in tobacco, he said. However, marijuana also contains the chemical THC, which he said may kill aging cells and keep them from becoming cancerous.

Lisa Stebic Vanishes, Without a Trace; Missing for Two Weeks

PLAINFIELD, Ill. (Crime Library) — The search for a missing mother of two is now in its second week. Friends and family members have plastered missing persons posters throughout town, and, as of Friday, they took have taken their search to the web in hopes that someone might recognize her photo.

Lisa Stebic, 37, was last seen at about 6 p.m. on April 30 at her home, 13244 Red Star Drive. The following day, one of Lisa’s neighbors reported her missing. When investigators went to her home, they discovered that her car was in the garage, but her cell phone and purse were missing.

Lisa and her husband, Craig, 41, have been married for 14 years, and have a 12-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son together. However, in recent months, the couple filed for divorce. Despite the turmoil in their relationship, they continued to live together. Police were recently called to the residence to settle a heated argument, the details of which are not yet known. The Tribune recently reported that Craig has a criminal record, which includes two felony counts from 1995, for unlawful use of a weapon.
